Ride With Emilio
We believe no child should miss their medical treatments due to a lack of safe and reliable transportation. Our Ride with Emilio program provides free transportation services to immunocompromised children and youth. Our fleet of sanitary vans and friendly drivers pick up patients all over Southern California.
Ride With Emilio’s Annual Impact
Family Resource Center
Through our culturally responsive and bilingual family resource center we guide newly diagnosed families through their journey, by connecting them to basic needs such as access to food, housing, legal aid, and mental health services, among many other services.
Emilio’s Snack Bags
Most treatments related to blood disorders and cancer, require a child to fast beforehand. We offer free hospital-approved snack bags to help provide necessary nutrients to children who have been fasting for chemotherapy in the oncology units at children’s hospitals.
End of Life
There are no words to describe watching a family fight cancer and ultimately deal with the loss of a child. That’s why we do everything in our power to anticipate their needs during this time of grief. We provide much needed assistance to families with financial aid, funeral costs, fulfillment of children’s wishes, and meal cards during the last days of a child’s life. In addition, as part of the hospital’s palliative care program, we provide purple hearts for end-of-life ceremonies provided by hospital representatives.
Creating for Hope
Our free sewing, knitting, and crocheting classes become group therapy as families meet others in a similar situation. It’s a coping mechanism for our moms to keep busy while living at the hospital. They often sell what they make bringing in an entrepreneurial component. Our volunteers also create fun craft projects for patients and their siblings.
