This program helps low-income families who lose their children to cancer cover the costs of burial expenses, and includes assistance to ensure families find high quality, affordable services during their time of grief.
To request assistance through this program, please talk to your case social worker and have them give us a call. We only accept requests through hospital personnel. At this time, ENF serves the families of children who have lost their battle to cancer in the San Diego Area.
As part of the Palliative Program of Hematology/Oncology at Rady Children’s Hospital, ENF provides 2 hearts: One Adult fist size and one child fist size, to the grieving family before they leave the hospital after the loss of a child.
These hearts are made of soft and washable fabric, filed with hypoallergenic material and plastic beads. The purpose of the hearts is to assist the family with the grieving process.
This is a free program to the families and per request through the Palliative Program.
These hearts “represent a piece of our heart, our gift to you in memory of your precious child” – Richard & Diane Nares.
